Washing, Blocking, and Sizing
| 1. First, the rug is inspected and measured. We measure the rug prior to the washing so that we will know the exact dimensions to stretch the rug after it has been washed, in the event any shrinkage took place. We inspect the rug to look for any pre-existing conditions such as pet odors (pre-treat prior to washing), color fastness, fading, etc. |
| 2. We then dust the rug by using highly compressed air that is blown through. The rug is immersed in treated water where we apply a ph neutral detergent. The dirt and detergent are then flushed out by compressed air. The rug is removed from the water and placed onto a beam to be dried. Once it is dried, it ready to be blocked and sized. |
3. The blocking of the rug is accomplished by gently stretching the rug square to the original pre-washing dimensions and carefully tacking it down.
Sizing is the application of a solution to the blocked rug that helps it stay in shape once the rug is released. Also included in our sizing solution is a moth and carpet beetle repellant. |
| 4. Once the rug is dry, we carefully remove it from the blocking board and prepare it to be delivered to you. Notice the difference in the shape of the rug compared to the picture of the same rug in step 1. |
